    • Selma Rizvic

      dr Selma Rizvić is an Associate Professor of Computer Graphics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo. For 20 years she has been teaching there at Bachelor, Masters and PhD study programs. From 2005-2010 she has been engaged as well at the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, where she established computer graphics courses and Digital Media Center laboratory.

      At the University of Sarajevo, she founded in 2004 the Laboratory for Computer Graphics – Sarajevo Graphics Group. It is a research group that specializes in the use of 3D technologies for the presentation of cultural heritage. The SGG research group is multidisciplinary, it includes computer graphics experts and works with archaeologists, historians, visual artists, writers, film professionals, in order to design and implement virtual cultural heritage applications which have both educational value and are engaging, entertaining and attractive at the same time.

      The unique expertise of SGG in interactive digital storytelling embedded in a number of virtual archaeology projects brought them invitations in major EU consortiums. From 2011-2015 they have been a partner in the FP7 NoE Virtual Museum Transnational Network V-MusT.net and presently they are involved in H2020 iMARECULTURE project.

      Selma Rizvic was a Work Group leader in MPNS COST Action TD1201 “Colour and Space in Cultural Heritage” (COSCH) from 2012-2016. She is now Steering Committee member of CA COST Action CA16213 New Exploratory Phase in Research on East European Cultures of Dissent.

      She is included as an expert in future digital-based research and innovation activities on ICT and Cultural Heritage in the framework of the next work programme of the European Commission.

 

    • Sorin Hermon

      Associate Professor Sorin Hermon leads the Digital Cultural Heritage research group at STARC, The Cyprus Institute (CyI), which focuses its scientific activities on two convergent fields: 3D approaches to the study of the past and big data for knowledge repositories.

      He is director of STARLAB, a mobile laboratory for Heritage Science, including instrumentation for non-invasive chemical-physical measurements, 3D documentation, technical imaging and remote sensing. The mobile lab provides scientific expertise to archaeological excavations in Cyprus and the region, art museums and heritage collections. A most recent achievement is the inclusion of STARLAB and its related scientific activities into E-RIHS, the European Research Infrastructure on Heritage Science, where CyI fulfill the role of a regional hub for the infrastructure. Sorin is a member of the Steering Committee of E-RIHS PP, the Preparatory Phase of E-RIHS. Within this context, Sorin’s research focuses on developing workflows for art characterization based on the integration of non-invasive and non-destructive chemical – physical analyses with technical imaging and 3D surface documentation for answering specific art history questions and the consequent development of STARLAB’s relevant instrumentation capacities for research and innovation.Sorin obtained competitive grants from various EU programs, most recent ones being EMAP, ARIADNE, E-RIHS PP and GRAVITATE. Sorin is the author of one book, editor of several books and peer-reviewed conference proceedings and author of more than 60 scientific papers. He is currently supervising three PhD students and is regularly teaching courses in the Science and Technology in Archaeology doctoral program of the Cyprus Institute.

 

    • Eva Pietroni
      Eva Pietroni graduated in Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Art History (with a specialization in contemporary art) with honors at Università della Tuscia. Since 1998 she has been developing research activity at CNR-ISTC and later at CNR- ITABC-VHLab, mainly in the field of Virtual Museums. She is responsible and scientific director of projects at national and European level that have awarded by international committees. The ambits of research and application are referred to the study, documentation, communication and valorization of tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage (from site to landscape), using the digital interactive technologies, with particular attention to museum and virtual environments. Special interest is oriented to interaction design in VR ecosystems, gesture-based interaction and embodiment, advanced techniques of interactive storytelling,VR multiuser domains. She is the designer of novel solutions in the integration of media, combining traditional VR paradigms with cinematographic and theatrical techniques, virtual set (mixed reality), augmented reality, gaming rules. She has published about one hundred scientific publications of international interest, since 2000 up to now and, in the same period, she has realized about 50 projects in the filed of digital media for cultural heritage with concrete results. Among the others, virtual museums that are permanently running in prestigious museums: Vatican Museums and Palaexpo of Rome (Etruscannig project), National Roman Museum-Diocletian’s Baths in Rome (Virtual Museum of the Ancient via Flaminia and Livia’s Villa Reloaded), National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome (Etruscanning project and Tiber Valley Virtual Museum), Eremitani Museum in Padua (Scrovegni Chapel Virtual Museum), Matera open air museum, (Matera tales of a city project), Paestum Tower Museum (serious game Protect the walls!).

 

    • Daniel Pletinckx
      Daniel Pletinckx was trained as a civil engineer, with a specialisation in information technology (Ghent University, 1984). He gained extensive experience in system design, quality assurance, digital image processing and synthesis, 3D and virtual reality through a career of 14 years in private industry. He is the author of many articles on computer graphics and cultural heritage topics and has lectured extensively at major computer graphics and cultural heritage conferences. He organized several workshops concerning the use of ICT in cultural heritage and was conference chair of the international conferences VAST2004 (Brussels) and VSMM2005 (Ghent).
      Daniel Pletinckx was the chief consultant to the Ename974 project, a major heritage project in the historical village of Ename, Belgium, and founded the international Ename Center for Public Archaeology and Heritage Presentation, together with Dirk Callebaut and Neil Silberman.
      Daniel Pletinckx designed several TimeFrame and TimeScope systems in Ename, which received three international awards (Golden Scarab and Flemish Monument Award in 1998, the VGI ICT Award for best innovation in public outreach in cultural heritage in 2004). In 2009, he received the first Tartessos Award for virtual archaeology in Sevilla, Spain. In 2016, his educational game Ename 1290 was awarded by Heritage in Motion as second best European project in the category “games and interactive experiences”.
      He also designed, coordinated and realized digital heritage systems in several museums and sites in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, the Vatican, Spain, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, and Egypt.
      Since 2003, Daniel Pletinckx is director of Visual Dimension bvba, an SME dealing with ICT based innovation in cultural heritage, tourism and education. Visual Dimension specializes in new, efficient ways to digitize and digitally restore museum objects, monuments, and sites, in the virtual reconstruction of historical structures and landscapes, in innovative interaction with 3D (such as GroupVR and tangible interfaces) and in the combination of interactive storytelling with 3D for museums, sites and monuments. Currently, he is also working on innovative 3D and VR solutions for tourism and education.
      Daniel Pletinckx is a co-founder of the European 6FP IST EPOCH Network of Excellence, that dealt with optimizing the use of ICT in cultural heritage, and acted from 2004 to 2008 as Coordinator for Integration Activities. His company also coordinated the Dissemination and Exploitation activities of the European Network of Excellence V-MusT.net that focused on virtual and digital museums. Part of this activity was the organization of the major exhibition Keys2Rome, full of innovative digital heritage solutions, that was held in 2014-2015 in Amsterdam, Rome, Sarajevo, and Alexandria simultaneously. His company was also involved in the European CARARE and 3D-ICONS projects to deliver 3D content about World Heritage monuments and sites to Europeana, and in Etruscanning3D within the Creative Europe framework, creating several high-end exhibitions with digital heritage solutions. He is currently also reviewer and expert for the European Commission in the domain of digital heritage.

 
 

    • Niall Ó hOisín, Managing Director, Noho

      Niall is founder and Managing Director of Noho. He is also Creative Director and Animation Director and is responsible for articulating the creative vision on all projects.Niall combines expertise in animation and design with a passion for video and technology, creating innovative solutions and interpretive experiences across diverse industry sectors: from heritage to corporate and broadcast.Niall began working in the post-production industry in 1994 and has been at the forefront of the computer graphics industry in Ireland for the past 20 years, working in Screenscene (Head of 3D), The Farm (Head of Graphics) before founding Noho in 2009. His work has received many awards in Promax, Cork Film Festival, ICAD, Kinsale Sharks, Bilbao Fun & Serious Games Festival and the Digital Media Awards. With a degree in History and History of Art, Niall’s work at Noho combines his passion for heritage with his technical and creative background in broadcast graphics, commercials and animation.Niall is a founding member of the Virtual Museum Transnational Network (V-MusT), a European network of museum professionals, researchers and content providers. In 2016, Noho began work on two H2020-funded projects, CEMEC (cemec-eu.net) and EMOTIVE (emotiveproject.eu). Through participation in these and similar projects, he keeps abreast of innovations and advances in cultural heritage.

 
 

    • Breffni O’Malley, Head of Content, Noho
      Breffni directly oversees content research, narrative design, scriptwriting and editing on all Noho projects. He also maintains an editorial overview of all content produced, ensuring that narratives, themes and messages support project aims and objectives.Breffni began his career in the e-learning industry, designing and writing online learning content on a broad range of subjects. This experience gave him a keen understanding of the power and potential of digital content to engage and inspire audiences. He is passionate about digital storytelling and pursuing the innovative use of new media to connect with people and bring stories to life.Breffni writes or commissions copy for all Noho projects, working closely with the client to capture the essence of a subject be it a historical site, new brand identity, product or place. His feature writing has been published in The Irish Times and he has had stories and reports published on RTÉ Radio and Television, Newstalk and by O’Brien Press. His substantial experience designing and writing interactive educational and interpretive content ensures that each Noho project is visually appealing, emotionally engaging and easy-to-use.Breffni has participated on a number of international, interdisciplinary projects including the Virtual Museum Transnational Network (V-MusT), CEMEC (cemec-eu.net) and EMOTIVE (emotiveproject.eu).

 

    • Dr. Karolina Badzmierowska, Communications and Project Coordinator, Noho
      Karolina completed a Structured PhD Programme in Digital Arts and Humanities in the Department of History of Art and Architecture, Trinity College Dublin, where she was awarded Postgraduate Research Studentship in 2013. She has a MA in History of Art and Architecture from University of Limerick and a BA in Art History from University of Gdansk. Both, her MA and BA dissertations focused on Calvinist iconography in Dutch art of the 16th-17th century. Karolina’s doctoral research explored digital methodologies in art history with a focus on the concepts of thematic research collections and virtual research environments. Her case study investigated the application of digital tools and methodologies in research of the 17th century Dutch church interior paintings.In March 2017 Karolina joined Noho where her role involves project management, communications, dissemination, graphic design and liaising with EU-funded projects. Her career to date combines strong interests in digital humanities, art history and museums. The latter includes work as an Education Officer at the Hunt Museum in Limerick, Ireland and over 8-month marketing internship at the National Museum of Ireland. Her teaching experience at Trinity College Dublin and Maynooth University in the past included themes and topics such as digital humanities, digital art history, history of art, crowdsourcing, digitisation, digital tools and technologies in research and museums.
    • Bojan Hadzihalilovic
      20 years ago Bojan Hadzihalilović was one of the founders of Design Studio TRIO Sarajevo.  In the beginning, the Studio was involved in records, news magazines, theater and film posters, books design.After the war, the Group established the Agency Fabrika-Sarajevo that has been engaged in the design, computer graphics, TV animation, TV spots production and marketing communication…
      The works of the Trio Group and Agency Fabrika have been publicized in the following magazines: Graphis”, “Print” , “How”, “Step inside Design” “Life” “Newsweek, “The Face”,” Creative Review, “Art Press, “Print, “Flash  Art”,… as well as in publications “Anatomy of Design”, “Innovative Promotions at Work”, “The Design of Dissent”, “Graphic Agitation II”, Evil doesn’t live Here”, “Political posters in Central and Eastern Europe 45-95”, “Boundless Borders”…Bojan Hadzihalilović teaches visual communication and he is the Head of the Department for Graphic Design at the Academy of the Fine Arts in Sarajevo.

 

    • Vensada Okanovic
      dr Vensada Okanovic has finished her BSc, MSc and PhD studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Sarajevo. Her expertise and research interests are in the fields of web and mobile applications development, software engineering, web technologies and graphics programming. Vensada Okanovic is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Sarajevo. She is an active collaborator of Sarajevo Graphics Group and co-author of their projects and publications.

 

    • Dusanka Boskovic
      Dr Dušanka Bošković is Assistant Professor at Faculty of Electrical Engineering University of Sarajevo. Area of interest: software and system engineering, involved in biomedical and cognitive (learning) domains. She is continually involved in activities of multidisciplinary professional teams.
      Dušanka is the founding President of the Assembly for the Society for Medical and Biological Engineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina (DMBIUBIH). She is an active collaborator of Sarajevo Graphics Group involved in evaluation of user experience of their projects and co-author of their publications. Her experience in evaluation of user experience includes both quantitative and qualitative approaches.

 

    • Fatmir Alispahic
      Fatmir Alispahic, MSc, was born on November 9, 1966, in Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He graduated from the comparative literature and librarianship at the Faculty of Philosophy at Sarajevo University. He has received Master Degree in 2009 at the University of Sarajevo in the field of literary and historical sciences. He has been awarded for his works in prose and journalism.He is the author of 14 books, four drama plays, hundreds of television and radio shows, and a large number of publications, publicity, professional and scientific works. He has been involved in journalism since 1988. He was associate of numerous newspapers in the former Yugoslavia and a columnist of leading Bosnian-Herzegovina papers and journals.In recent years, he has been exploring multimedia forms in the presentation of the cultural and historical fields. His interests are related to preserving the culture of memory through interactive digital storytelling.     • Fahira Fejzić Čengić
      Fahira Fejzić Čengić was born in 1961 in Visoko. She graduated on Communicology Department of Faculty of Political Science, University of Sarajevo. Dr. Fejzić-Čengić holds the title of a professor since 2015, after passing all academic ranks starting from an assistant.
      She teaches subjects: Theory of Information, Printed Media, Programme and Editing Media Politics, Research Journalism, Media Culture and Journalism Practices.

      Dr. Fejzić-Čengić is also a member of editing collegium of yearbook „Godišnjak“ published by Bosniac Community of Culture „Preporod“ and a member of editorial staff of magazine „Novi Muallim“. She attended many scientific, international and local conferences and symposiums. She works as Chief of Communicology Department of Faculty of Political Science at the moment. She was awarded the Faculty’s prize for the best review for the text on the book of Carla del Ponte, published in the magazine of Academy of Science and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, “Dijalog”.
