Solar Cell

If electrical energy is produced by direct transformation from solar emission, we are talking about solar photovoltaic energy. This type of energy transformation is known as photoelectric effect. Devices that can provide photovoltaic transformation of energy are called solar cells.

Lack of electrical energy in war was apparent but mostly in hospitals all over BiH. Assemblies and solar cells like this one (picture left) used in State hospital succeeded to produce at least small amounts of this very important energy-generating product.

This solar cell (solar panel) which made a huge difference for people in war, today is usable only as museum display. This solar cell was made of plastics and solar cells. Cells can be linked in two ways: parallel- gives higher electricity with larger surface and it’s implemented in the way that all (+) poles are attached to the same conductor (the same applies to (-) poles), and serial- gives higher voltage with larger surface, and (+) and (-) poles of the cell are attached interleaving.

This solar cell has height of 35 cm, and width also 35 am. It was donated to Historical museum of Sarajevo in January, 2003.
