Setilj

Already in sixteenth century,Sarajevo was a city where you could find water and water supplies, and because of that hygiene has become not only general but also the traditional virtues of the city residents.

During the reign of the Ottoman Empire, in every Bosnian room you can find little bathroom for personal hygiene. In that bathroom, on the ceiling you could see the bowl hooked to cleat. It called susak(setilj) and has a fountain at the bottom. Setilj was used as a shower, and people mixed hot and cold water in it. It was usually made from copper, and it was made in different sizes.

Today we might find susak only in museums and antique shop.
