Bowl for sugar

During the Ottoman Empire, Sarajevo was the cultural, religious, trade and craft center of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this period, Ottoman culture and the way of life were deeply rooted in the everyday life of Sarajevo, what could be specifically noted in the handicrafts.

With the arrival of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, 1878., great changes take place within the city, changes that have significantly affected the daily lives of the citizens of Sarajevo and of course that affected the previous trends and fashion. By entering Bosnia and Herzegovina in mid-European countries, there is a drastic change in the crafts, because at that techniques that came from Europe and China, related to pottery, have already been mastered. The change that has occurred has left its mark in all aspects of life as well as in households in Sarajevo. A new culture is particularly influenced by changes in the tools that had previously been used, the changes in costume and also for dishes that were used. Because of the huge use of techniques, pottery was replaced by ceramic and porcelain materials, and one example is this bowl for sugar. This bowl of sugar is made of porcelain. There are characteristic handles and especially prominent decorations in many colors. The shape is not similar to the earlier, it is more modern and distinctive.
