Traveling post stamp

With the development of railways in Bosnia and Hercegovina, on some traffic routes, traveling post offices were stationed whose task was to transport all kinds of post packages. These packages were using special round stamps with different diameters. They were marked with the name of the starting station and the destination and with a number which was the same in both directions. Especially, for a more precisely direction marking, it was allowed to put a name of a crossing destination in the name of the traveling post office.

One of those stamps is located In the city museum of Sarajevo. He was used on the relation Sarajevo – Zelenika, and he had, on himself, the names of these two city’s and the number 35 which was the same for all stamps used on this relation. The date on the stamp is set on the 5.1.1941., which indicates that one of these two stamps were used on that relation in the period from 1933. to 1941. The name Vienna is engraved on the stamp sides, as the manufacturing city, as well as the patent sign of the stamp.
