Padlock for basemant storerom
At that time all the old houses, not depending on whether they constructed on flat or vertical
field, also had basemant storerom (magaza). That is part of the house, which was built entirely of stone that was brought home
from a particular place with the help of ox or horse-drawn carts.
In basemant storerom people kept flour in special wooden crates with lid. They kept also potatoes
, which is bored into the earth, to stop them from freezing.
There were also large wooden tubs-vessels of oak or fir, in which plum, pear and cabbage were acidifing.
Tools for cutting the grass, and hay tools (hay-faver and rake) were kept there also.
With the help of a podlock, which was designed to preserve certain properties from theft and unauthorized use,
these things are kept safe. This podlock is made in the 15th century and used in basemant storerom at Bascarsija in the time
when Bascarsija experienced the culmination of the development.
